The former Liverpool manager admits a return to lead Liverpool is plausible in theory.

Jurgen Klopp, who stepped down from Anfield in 2024, remarked that rejoining the club is a possibility. Klopp, following a hugely successful nine-season tenure which brought continental glory and the Reds’ first league title since 1990, now holds roles in a global football capacity for Red Bull and providing guidance to Germany's league body.

Supporters’ Hopes and His Frank Comments

The club claimed England's top flight under Arne Slot, though countless followers who revere Klopp would embrace the possibility that he may eventually return. In a wide-ranging interview, he told Steven Bartlett: “I stated I won't manage another team in England. So that means in case it's my former club...yeah. It's plausible.”

“I’m 58, which suggests I might decide later on, I don’t know. Is a decision required immediately? If so, I wouldn't return. But thank God, it's not necessary. I can just see what the future brings.”

Conditions for a Comeback

Questioned regarding what circumstances would need to occur to draw him back to management, he confessed he isn't eager to such a return. “It's unclear to me, I enjoy my current role,” he stated. “I don’t miss coaching; I avoid standing under bad weather for lengthy sessions; I don’t miss going to press conferences multiple times weekly or having 10-12 interviews each week.

“No nostalgia for the changing area in that context, yet sharing a meal with the team talking freely, I appreciate that. We won a lot of games thus frequently a very good mood in the building. I still have Virgil [Van Dijk’s] laugh in my ear as an instance.”

Commending Arne Slot

Klopp was full of praise for his successor, acknowledging his role for the adjustments that took the title in the previous season. Liverpool have lost a string of losses across various tournaments post heavy investment, yet he dismissed the notion of it representing the start of a downward turn.

“[Liverpool have] an incredible striker in Flo[rian] Wirtz, you will all eat your words if spoken against. He’s an incredible talent. [Hugo] Ekitike, incredible player. This is a well-built balanced team. You don’t have to worry about Liverpool, things will improve.”

Heartfelt Words for the Late Forward

He shared movingly regarding the passing of Jota, a 2020 acquisition in 2020, along with the consequences for the team. The forward died tragically in a car crash together with his sibling in July.

“Who can fill the void of such an individual? This isn't just regarding his on-field talent, it’s the guy he was. I struggle to conceive the squad without him in it. Putting it into words is tough on this topic. A devastating blow for the entire squad also. No one within the club might employ it to justify results though it's a fact. You walk in a dressing room which he filled completely. Coping with it individually is difficult. Unbearable.”
