Los Angeles experienced widespread celebrations after the Dodgers clinched a thrilling seven-game World Series championship. Supporters worldwide united with local residents in jubilation, marking the initial time in a quarter-century that a franchise has achieved consecutive championships.
Celebration Parade Attracts Massive Turnout
Los Angeles area events featured a procession through the city center on Monday morning, a reserved-seating event at Dodger Stadium, and impromptu gatherings across the city.
Social media videos show countless of Los Angeles residents flooding downtown streets, many carrying homemade signs and Dodger flags. The team was seen riding high on a open-top bus through the crowds, raising the championship trophy proudly.
“I’m already thinking about the third time we’re going to achieve this,” the star player remarked through an interpreter.
The parade route concluded at the stadium, where the players walked out to the rapper’s “Not Like Us,” with the renowned DJ providing music and the artist cruising a light blue classic car around the field.
Pre-Parade Festivities and Athlete Responses
Celebrations started well before the parade, with Dodgers fans lighting fireworks in the streets of the city center on Sunday night.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto, named the World Series’ Most Valuable Player, spoke directly about the victory.
“We refuse to lose,” he said. “I love the Dodgers. I love Los Angeles.”
Varied Responses and Community Spirit
However, the team owner was met with a cooler welcome at the rally. Video footage from the event appear to show Walter walking onstage to a mix of cheers and boos, with jeers interrupting his address.
The championship served as a positive moment in what has been a challenging year for the city. An approximate quarter-million people showed up to the Dodgers’ victory parade last year, and according to Dodgers player one athlete, supporters this year demonstrated equal or greater support.
“I feel like it’s nearly twice from last year,” Freeman said. “The supporters are incredible. It’s truly amazing to be a part of this.”
