Ex- Doctor Accused of Sexual Assault Charges Involving 38 Individuals in His Care

Prosecutors report that a former physician stands accused of carrying out sexual assaults involving 38 individuals who were under his care.

The Grave Allegations

Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of numerous acts of sexual assault – comprising some against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.

One senior prosecutor commented, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to assist a thorough and intricate police inquiry, meticulously examining the evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

The Investigation

The charges follow what investigators described as a “detailed inquiry” into reported sexual offences at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.

Spencer is due to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.

List of Offences

Prosecutors said the 45 charges he is charged with:

  • 15 counts of sexual assault.
  • 17 counts of assault by penetration.
  • Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
  • One count of attempted penetrative assault.
